Ep. 11: How to do Shadow Work - The Bliss of Full Self-Acceptance and Liberation through Integration
Intuitively Being You is a podcast about all things intuition - connecting with your inner self, cultivating self-love, supporting your nervous system on the healing journey, self-trust, self-care, personal growth, spirituality and sooo much more. I break down everything you need to know to find your inner guide, get clear on who you are and follow your intuition to create deep fulfilment from within.
The shadow is the part of our personality that is in contrast to the ideal version we want to show. It doesn’t align with our beautiful dream about ourselves, and so we shut it out... But through this rejection, we shut parts of ourselves off and we don't get to fully experience the contrast and contradictions of being a human.
Today, I talk about my recent shadow work epiphanies, how this work allows us to integrate all parts of ourselves for deeper personal alignment, and how you can do shadow work - whether you're new or not to this work! ✨
I cover:
My recent experiences of deepening into my own shadow work
Accepting the yucky, messy, ‘in the soup of it’ parts of ourselves and life
Light-washing and how over-romanticising life can disconnect us from the truth of things
How shadow work is at the essence of ALL healing work (it’s not a standalone, isolated island of practices)
What shadow work is - Carl Jung roots and terminology
Our shadow vs. our persona
Becoming all of it and the full spectrum of the human experience
Prompts and guidance for identifying your shadows
Accepting that there is no absolute truth, and holding contrasting experiences at the same time
The importance of integrating your shadows to step into your truth

Quotes mentioned:
“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” - Carl Jung
“Unfortunately there can be no doubt that man is, on the whole, less good than he imagines himself or wants to be. Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is. At all counts, it forms an unconscious snag, thwarting our most well-meant intentions.” - Carl Jung
“The human conscience is capable of holding difficult material outside of conscious awareness until such a time becomes available...” - The Book of Pluto by Steven Forrest
