Ep. 12: What is Slow Living? - Tips for Your Everyday, Why It's a Rebellion & It's not About the Speed
Intuitively Being You is a podcast about all things intuition - connecting with your inner self, cultivating self-love, supporting your nervous system on the healing journey, self-trust, self-care, personal growth, spirituality and sooo much more. I break down everything you need to know to find your inner guide, get clear on who you are and follow your intuition to create deep fulfilment from within.
This was originally recorded as a YouTube video (linked below), and I decided to pull the audio and share as an episode here!
Slow living has been a big part of my life over the last year, helping me to find my own rhythm, release old values that no longer serve me and discover peace in simplicity. It's less about the speed of your life, and more about the energy and intention behind our actions.
Slow living means being guided by your inner being. It requires personal alignment, listening in and creating boundaries. It requires being lead by the nature and the drumbeat coming from within, not outside influences, competition, numbers and fear.
Joseph Campbell describes this perfectly: "The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe to match your nature with Nature." 🌍
Thanks for joining me in this slightly more different episode. ♥️
I cover:
What slow living is
Why slow living is a rebellion
Why it can be hard to start or keep going
How we lose self-alignment for societal alignment and fitting in
Our natural desire to fit in as part of survival
Our natural link to nature and the cycles of ebb and flow
My 2 overarching tips for living more slowly: inner work + a practice of presence and integration (e.g. meditation)
Advice for when it's hard to tune into your inner guide
Advice on releasing compassion and finding our own style of slow living
Encouragement to let yourself slow down
Honouring our inner seasons
5 tips for slow living:
TIP 1: Reflect on your values
TIP 2: Create boundaries & release people-pleasing
TIP 3: Tune into your body
TIP 4: Live seasonally*
TIP 5: Lunar living
* To add to seasonal living: I should have also added that eating in season and local produce can also really help with this. For most of us, the supermarket looks the same all year round, and by making conscious choices to learn about what is truly in season where we live, we can tap more into Nature's rhythms.
